Mantic Games / 343 IndustriesCameron Faulkner (he/him) is Polygon’s commerce editor. He began writing about tech and gaming in 2013, and migrated from The Verge in 2023.Halo: Flashpoint, a new skirmish tabletop game from Mantic Games, is coming Oct. 25 — and the Spartan Edition is available for pre-order now from Amazon for $124.99. (It’s also available for pre-order from Mantic Games directly for £100 / around $131.) Flashpoint is the latest in the popular skirmish genre, requiring just a few miniatures to engage in fast, fluid battle on the board. This should perk up the ears of those familiar with other hits, including Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Cyberpunk: Combat Zone, and Warhammer 40:000: Kill Team. How you paint them is up to you; if you’re like me, for example, maybe you’ll remake the outlandish Spartan designs you’ve created in the Halo games. Whichever path you take, if you’re in need of high-quality mini paint and supplies, let us be your guide to getting the right kit.Polygon’s in-depth preview of the game’s ruleset left us excited to get our hands on the final product. I highly suggest checking out our preview to learn more about the moment-to-moment gameplay, which seems to replicate the tension and excitement of a Halo online multiplayer match.

Valve has announced that it will be changing the rules surrounding what developers and publishers can write in their store descriptions on Steam.
Starting in early September, four sections on Steam store pages will be impacted: “About The Game,” “Short Description,” “Any Special Announcement,” and “Awards.” The first new rule is that no links to other websites will be allowed in those sections, including links to social media pages. This is due to the store pages already having specific link fields for common social media platforms or websites.
No embedded imagery that mimics Steam store UI or buttons will be allowed either, including ones that look like wishlist buttons, game capsules, or prices. Additionally, no images, links, or widgets that point to other games on Steam …

The Nier team isn’t shy about good-naturedly taunting or riling up their fans, and that’s exactly what series producer Yosuke Saito did in a recent talk. Speaking with former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi in Weekly Famitsu, Saito strongly implied that he’s working on a new project with Nier series creator/director Yoko Taro and series composer Keiichi Okabe. However, he can’t say much about it for the foreseeable future.
As translated by Gematsu, Saito said the following: “I’ve been talking about wanting to do something with Yoko and Okabe for some time now. I’ll have something a bit more put-together to say in the not-too-distant future, so please stay tuned Come from Sports betting site VPbet <…

Read moreIs Fallout supposed to make you think about society? I’d argue that, at its best, it is, with capitalism being an obvious candidate to explore, given the mainline series’ unflinchingly corporate American atomic age-inspired setting and the whole resource war that led up to the bombs being dropped. Though, according to co-creator Tim Cain, that isn’t the central crux of Fallout theme-wise.The veteran developer has said as much in a comment (thanks, PC Gamer) on the latest video posted to his YouTube channel – which I’d definitely reccomend checking to pretty much anyone who’s interested in games and how they get made – as part of a response to a fan asking for his thoughts on reading Fallout “as a critique on capitalist/corporative greed (Vault-Tec and others) and on excessive militarizatio…

Read moreDeadlock is still early in development, so some players have been able to play however they like without any kind of punishment – but the newest update should stop that.Valve is working on a brand new shooter, one of the hero variety, if you hadn’t heard, but it being still in the testing phase means that Deadlock doesn’t quite have all the kinks worked out yet. However, when it comes to things like players just abandoning matches for no good reason, there wasn’t a system that disincentivized such behaviour. As part of the game’s September update, this has now been changed, with some punishments coming into effect in certain instances. For example, if a player has exhibited bad behaviour or abandons games too often, they can now be placed in a secondary queue that’s less likely to find a m…
